Y. Vidyashankar Assistant Director, Horticulture. Anantapur is emerging as the food bowl of Andhra Pradesh. With the initiatives under the National Horticulture Mission (NHM), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas,Yojana (RKVY), MNREGS – Horticulture Convergence Project. All these programmes are giving a boost to the Horticulture Development in Anantapur. The area for expansion has been taken for about 5 years to the extent of 39,000 hectares. The productivity levels also have gone up substantially. The programmes of the department are aimed at productivity enhancement. Providing post harvest infrastructure facilities, linkages, production clusters, creating marketing infrastructure, marketing outlets, collection centres at production clusters.
